Do you enjoy screwing people over, demeaning others, spending other people’s money, strong-arming your manager and having your employer pay for the privilege? You’ve come to the right place.
For the corporate climbers out there – yes, you – willing to sell your soul (or have you already?), the Charlotte Kok Files are an indispensable manual on riding roughshod over your peers, undermining your betters, dismissing underlings, and expertly managing upward.
Of course Charlotte Kok would never put it so bluntly. She prefers to speak of seeking mutual alignment, offering thoughtful compromise, encouraging others to reflect on their roles within the hierarchy, and overcoming resistance with persuasive charm.
To your detriment.

The Charlotte Kok Files are based on actual events. We hope you enjoy the read and derive real-time Machiavellian value – you are learning from a grandmaster of creative truth-telling, up-chain stakeholder engagement, strategic self-advancement and vendetta fulfilment. By the time you finish, we are confident you will put these pearls of wisdom to immediate use and self-benefit.
A blackhole of tens of thousands of dollars… and counting
A woman of many talents – and even more impressive self-assessments – Charlotte has been accused of costing her employer tens of thousands of dollars in legal challenges, Fair Work proceedings and paying redundant subscription fees for three years in a row. A regrettable but, she maintains, entirely predictable consequence of operating at what she describes as ‘elite altitude’.
“When you have reached the pinnacle of your career, detractors are simply part of the landscape,” says Charlotte. “I believe in testing the boundaries of excellence, which alas, sometimes results in casualties.”
What about the numerous proceedings filed against your employer?
Channelling Stalin, Charlotte strikes a wistful look, “One proceeding is a tragedy. Multiple proceedings… a statistic.”
And the subscription overpayments?
“A Client Success Executive of my calibre requires a degree of artistic licence to explore how best to maximise financial returns to the organisation. I have had a word with David about socialising the forecast variance across the business, and as always, he was most accommodating and fully supportive of my tactical direction. Any initial objections were, of course, mutually aligned through thoughtful compromise and persuasive charm.”
Charlotte, naturally, remains focused on the bigger picture.
A wake of corporate casualties
“In referring to my former subordinates, many would reach for the colloquialism, ‘losers’. I prefer strategically under-victorious. My optimal pathway is to help them on their performance improvement journey with creative, targeted interventions.
“Even with the best of intentions, however, this has been portrayed by some as my being ‘creative with facts’ and giving ‘support targeted by agenda’! My selflessness is clearly under-appreciated.
“Not many are able to meet the lofty perfection I demand of myself – and by extension, of my colleagues, my subordinates, and even my superiors.”
With so much fallout, why have there been no repercussions to your career?
“No, I am not Rose Hancock’s daughter. Or her niece, granddaughter or grandniece! You would need to be a hundred years old to remember that far back.
“Scraping the barrel, some have even suggested my persuasive charm extends beyond the professional. I do not appreciate the aspersions to ‘Asian siren zeroing in on lonely, old, married men at the top of the Findex-Crowe food chain’.
“The green-eyed monster of envy walks amongst us in the corridors of power, but I will not be baited.”
Have you placed your personal agenda ahead of the interests of Findex-Crowe?
“I resent any implication that I have been motivated by personal considerations ahead of the interests of my employer. And I categorically refute all imputations that I have leveraged my considerable personal attributes in any way for self-advancement.
“Those who have attempted to point out my alleged ‘failings’ are no longer here only because they did not meet the exacting standards I set – and consistently deliver – across the team. My last Bids and Tenders Manager, for example, claimed to have identified a redundant tender portal subscription and to have saved Findex-Crowe subscription fees of between $2,000 to 3,000 per annum. Regrettably, he never had the opportunity to raise this with David Munday, Managing Partner, as I had already sent him on his performance improvement journey.”
Will there be others to embark on ‘performance improvement journeys’?
Charlotte smiles, “Someone with the initials SN…”
